FoodDiary helps you track your meals with photos and emojis, view your eating habits on a calendar, and connect your diet to your health data. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data. The short answer: the contents of your diary — your photos, notes, nutrition, and Health data — stay on your device and in your private iCloud account, while advertising providers process the limited data described below.
FoodDiary stores the following information locally on your device:
All of this data is stored on your device or synchronized through your personal iCloud account using CloudKit. We do not have access to any of this information.
FoodDiary uses Apple's CloudKit to synchronize your meal data across your devices. This synchronization is handled entirely through Apple's iCloud service using your Apple ID. We do not access, process, or store your data on our servers.
FoodDiary requests access to your camera to take photos of your meals and to your photo library to select existing photos. These photos are stored locally on your device and in your iCloud account. They are never uploaded to our servers or shared with third parties.
FoodDiary can read health data including activity, body measurements, vitals, nutrition, and sleep data to provide comprehensive health tracking. It can also write meal nutrition (calories, protein, carbs, fat), water intake, and weight to Apple Health. All HealthKit data stays on your device and in your iCloud Health account. We do not have access to any of your health data.
FoodDiary uses Apple Intelligence for on-device image generation and nutrition estimation. All AI processing happens locally on your device. No data is sent to our servers for AI processing.
FoodDiary can send you local notifications to remind you to log your meals. These notifications are scheduled on your device and do not involve any external servers.
The free version displays banner advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob mediation may use Meta Audience Network, Unity Ads, Liftoff Monetize, DT Exchange, and InMobi. A one-time Remove Ads purchase permanently removes banner advertisements.
Advertising providers may process IP addresses, device and app information, advertising identifiers where permitted, ad interactions, and diagnostic data to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and personalize ads where consent permits. IP addresses may be used to infer approximate location. Location information may be processed when available and permitted by your device permissions and consent.
Where applicable, Google's consent form lets you accept, refuse, or manage advertising choices. You can revisit these choices through Privacy Choices in Settings when available. Apple's tracking permission is requested separately; you can change it in iOS Settings. Refusing consent or tracking does not prevent you from using the diary.
We do not provide meal photos, notes, nutrition values, or Apple Health data to advertising providers, and we do not use that information for ad targeting. Google Analytics for Firebase has been removed; advertising SDKs may still process the advertising and diagnostic data described above.
